About Me
I’m Sacha, a competitive jump rope athlete, skipping coach and the first New Zealand athlete to compete at the World Jump Rope Championships.
— HOW IT STARTED
From an Instagram video to the world stage
Kia ora! I’m Sacha, and my skipping journey started in 2021 when my love of exercise led me to discover freestyle skipping through an Instagram video.
Until then, I had no idea there was a whole world of competitive jump rope. In New Zealand, skipping is often thought of as a schoolyard activity, but internationally it’s a recognised sport with clubs, competitions, national championships and world championships.
I started learning jump rope tricks through the incredible online skipping community, connecting with talented skippers around the world who helped me improve my technique, learn new skills and discover just how much there was to the sport.

Representing New Zealand
What started with learning tricks online quickly turned into something much bigger. Within a few years, I went from discovering freestyle skipping to representing New Zealand on the world stage.

NOW
Growing the sport in Aotearoa
As President of Skipping New Zealand, I’m helping grow competitive skipping at home and introduce more Kiwis to the sport.
— GROWING THE SPORT OF SKIPPING
Bringing jump rope to Aotearoa
Today, I’m passionate about helping more people discover what’s possible with a skipping rope.
I coach kids and adults, create online skipping tutorials and visit schools to introduce tamariki to new skills and a side of skipping they may never have seen before.
Whether someone wants to learn their first jump, master freestyle tricks or discover competitive skipping, I want to make the sport more accessible and help grow the jump rope community across New Zealand.
